more 1D problems and Malcolm in the Middle
Posted on October 6th, 2009 No commentsSo today I am in 1f, I’m first in line, all is good. The 1st row is a great spot, lots of leg room even for 1st class. The only problem with that row is lack of storage space. There isn’t any. There is no seat in front of you to put something under and usually the overheads are full of stupid stuff like oxygen, first aid kits and the crew’s luggage. So you you really need to hustle to get storage space.
Just as we began to board a man stumbled up to the gate via the handicapped line. He told the gate agent he needed extra time to board. It was interesting though that his limp disappeared after he went through the gate. When we got onto the plane he mumbled an “almost” apology saying he needed to get on quick since he was in 1D.
I stared at him as he loaded his stuff into the overheads. Now I probably should have been offended that he lied his way ahead of me, but really, I just couldn’t get past what he was wearing. He had on a denim suit. I’m not kidding it was a Denim Suit. Actually, not even real denim. It was that light blue material that is made to look like denim.
The flight attendant must have noticed the look on my face as she asked me if I was ok. I looked at my watch, said I might be lost and asked her if this was the 1970’s. Ok I made that up. I did take the liberty of ordering for the guy though. I asked her for some Wild Turkey and a Cowboy Hat.
I spent just enough time stowing my gear to make sure 1D has just sat down and got comfortable. Then I informed him I was in seat 1F and could he please stand so I could get by him.
As we were waiting to take off, I watched the other passengers board. I noticed a familiar short guy walk by my row. I realized it was Frankie Muniz. Former Malcolm in the Middle star. I assumed he would stop somewhere in first class but he kept walking back to coach. Wow I guess Malcolm really was in the middle–of the plane. He had a bandaged hand. I read online that he injured it in his new profession, race car driver. A giggling young woman bothered him twice, once to confirm who he was and once to get his autograph for her and her friend. His right hand was bandaged but he struggled through giving the autographs.
After a few minutes we were on our way. As we flew I asked my neighbor what he had been doing since Hee Haw ended.
