Infrequent Ramblings of a Frequent Gay Traveler

I ate at Shula’s Steakhouse with some friends this week.  Great food, worst service ever and a little too sports themed.  The steak menu is on a football, um ok.  I’m always up for handling balls but this just didn’t do it for me.  The steaks were good but our server didn’t have a good handle on getting all of our food out at the same time.  Our sides came out well after entrees and one even came with the check.

Normally, I stay almost exclusively at Marriotts when I travel but this time I stayed at the Embassy Suites downtown.  It is in a great location, Indianapolis has a great downtown mall and this property is attached to it.  Which was a good thing since I forgot to pack socks.  I think Embassy Suites used to be a big deal a few years ago, free full breakfast, all suites, yada yada.  But this one needs a bit of a makeover.  I think they opted for mirrors instead of wallpaper in my room.  Add some  remixes and I feel like I’m in a Gay Bar in the 90’s.

The hotel also seemed to have staffing issues.  I came back to my room at 5:30pm the 2nd day I was there and my room hadn’t been cleaned yet.  When I called down to the desk to ask about it, they told me they were running behind because they had all been in a meeting.  Yeah, well I was in a meeting all day too and I wanted to relax in a clean room.
